Deer are the largest wild mammals in Britain.The deer habitat in Britain is expanding due to re-forrestation so that the deer population has grown to somewhere between 1.5 and 2 million, and they are spreading over a steadily wider territory, particularly the Muntjac. Still they can be shy and elusive, and often difficult to find.
